ACES Online for Elementary Students

Students in primary grades are at a critical point in their education. They are establishing the foundations for future learning; developing their knowledge of language, computation, logic, and analysis; and forming an understanding of the natural world and society that surround them.

Reading K-2

Children at this age are still developing the foundations for future communication skills, so catching and holding their attention while introducing new skills and concepts is essential. Students work in an interactive environment rich with sound and animation that illustrates a concept verbally and visually. A series of fun games teaches and reviews concepts while simultaneously assessing their knowledge and progress. Activities in K–2  include high frequency words, study skills, fluency, vocabulary, letter recognition, writing conventions, sounds, and reading comprehension.

Reading 3-5

Odyssey Reading/Language Arts for students in grades 3–5 provides systematic and explicit instruction in phonics, meaningful instruction in context, and direct instruction in decoding and comprehension. Our interactive conversational interface engages students more deeply in the learning process by simulating a conversation with a person in a fun, casual way and offering hints and tips for mastering new skills. Students in these grades will  begin synthesizing ideas into writing using and will learn the building blocks of the English language through the study of roots, prefixes, and suffixes.

Math K-5

Children in grades K–5 are still developing the foundations for future mathematics skills, so catching and holding their attention while introducing new skills and concepts is essential. Odyssey illustrates concepts verbally and visually, teaching and reviewing concepts and helping students prepare for success in algebra in later years.

Students learn:

• Addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and exponents
• Spatial sense
• Length, weight, and capacity
• Identifying patterns
• Data analysis and probability
• Transformations and symmetry
• Fractions, decimals, ratios, and percents

Science K-5

Science for primary grades gives students an interactive and engaging way to build scientific core knowledge and tie academic content to real-world exploration and application.  This program will supplements existing curriculum with engaging activities in physics, chemistry, biology, and earth science; addresses science theory, principles, concepts, and real-world applications; and teaches students how to gather, organize, and interpret data.

Social Studies K-5

The more in tune students are with their history, their government, and the society of the world around them, the more successful they'll be as students — and eventually, as adults. CompassLearning Odyssey Social Studies brings those topics to life, illustrating their relevance to today's students in a way that is engaging and interactive.

This program supplements existing curriculum with interactive maps, charts, graphs, quotations, and dialogue. It includes world history, U.S. history, government, culture, geography, economics, and current events.
